ESS with EHP5 – Personal Profile and Salary Statement Implemented in only 6 days You are responsible for HR and are thinking about to implement Employee-Self-Services (ESS) within your SAP HCM? In the beginning it is not necessary to set up an extensive ESS project. With EhP5 you have the possibility to step by step set up and roll out single ESS services based on the web technology WebDynpro for ABAP, which requires less effort but still gives benefits for your employees.

Get to know how we implemented the personal profile and the salary statement with client-specific requirements but closed to the standard in such little time.
We started with a workshop where we have presented the SAP standard ESS services personal profile and salary statement and where we have discussed the client-specific requirements.
Personal Profile The following figure shows the standard service personal profile.
Please note: The standard application configuration HRESS_AC_PERSINFO is based on the infotype and subtype customizing (table view V_TXSSPERSUBTY, transaction SM31). You can find all new ESS applications beneath the Web Dynpro Component FPM_OVP_COMPONENT (transaction SE80).
As discussed in the workshop we hat to adjust the personal profile as following: - Display only, no change of data of infotype 2 (Personal Data) - Hide the personal photo - Display and maintenance of data of infotype 6 (Adresses) - Display and maintenance of data of infotype 9 (Bank Information) - Display only, no change of data of infotype 21 (Family Members) - Hide infotype 32 (Internal Data) - Display and maintenance of data of infotype 105 (Communication) - Don’t allow users to personalize the application
In the following figure there you can see the result of the adjustment.
In contrast to the former logic with EhP4 (maintenance from current date to future) you now have to implement the Business-Add-In (BAdI) HRXSS_PER_BEGDA to be able to handle the start date of infotypes. Otherwise the user can change personal data of the past. Besides the adjustments on the overview page we also adjusted single maintenance views of the infotypes. E.g. infotype 6 (Adresses) shows the difference. We had to hide fields like telephone number or distance. In contrast to EhP4, which is Java based, the configuration concept of the Floorplan Manager (FPM) gives you way more flexibility for configuring the layout and the functionality.

Salary Statement
SAP standard offers the following ways to display the salary statement: either as SAPscript (PE51), als Smartform or as HR form (feature EDTIN and HRFOR). In any case the salary statement is shown as PDF which can be printed or saved. The standard application configuration HRESS_AC_PAYSLIP of salary statement looks as following:

Our client asked for the following adjustments: - To limit the time interval and number of shown salary statements - The first availability shall correspond with the payment date - Decrease the zoom (percentage) of PDF
Those adjustments can be realized implementing the BAdI HRESS_PAYSLIP_BADI_DEF, configurations as well as Adobe Reader configuration itself.

With our experience it is easy to quickly adjust more ESS applications to your requirements, e.g. absence request and –approval or CATS time recording. Customer developments like an ESS service for employee instructions or for other statements like the certificate of wage tax deduction are possible implementations as well.
